"Judging Amy" alum Timothy Omundson has been cast in the FOX Network's police procedural comedy-drama "Lucifer." The actor landed a guest-starring role as God.

(Facebook/Lucifer)"Lucifer" season 2 to return on May 1.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Omundson will portray a psychiatric patient named God Johnson. And like what the name suggests, the patient believes that he is God Almighty.

The titular character Lucifer (Tom Ellis) aims to prove the patient that he is not who he thinks he is. But eventually, Lucifer finds out that God Johnson knows several things that he isn't supposed to, information that only the real God Almighty would know about. If Omundson's character turns out to be the real divinity, then he will be Lucifer's father.

Omundson is best known for portraying Sean Potter in CBS' "Judging Amy," Eli in "Xena: Warrior Priness," Carlton Lassiter in "Psych," and Cain in "Supernatural."

After two more episodes, which are slated to premiere on Jan. 23 and 30, the show will be on a short hiatus until spring. New episodes of "Lucifer" season 2 will air on May 1. The episode starring Omundson is expected to air after the hiatus.

Meanwhile, in episode 12, titled "Love Handles," Lucifer and Chloe's (Lauren German) relationship will be put on the spotlight. Since the previous episode "Stewardess Interrupts" showed both the characters sharing a kiss, it seems like they will be deliberating on the status of their relationship in the upcoming installment. Lucifer seems certain about what he feels, but he is not sure if Chloe feels the same way about him.

Furthermore, in episode 13, titled "A Good Day to Die," which will be the last episode before the show goes into a hiatus, Tim DeKay will be introduced as Professor Jacob Carlisle. In addition, this episode will show the return of Lucifer's brother, Uriel (Michael Imperioli).

"Lucifer" season 2 airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET on FOX.
