Los Angeles Lakers trade rumors 2016: Lou Williams to OKC for Kyle Singler, 2nd round pick
In the past few rumors which the Los Angeles Lakers were involved in, the player that gets mentioned frequently is former Sixth Man of the Year guard Lou Williams. Now, in a new suggested swap, he could join the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The rumor says Williams could head to Oklahoma City, and in return, the Lakers are going to have forward Kyle Singler together with a second-round pick.
Perhaps the reason why Williams is a regular in speculations as of late is because he is one of the guys on Los Angeles' roster that has great trade value. The 29-year-old is a proven veteran in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and he had an impressive outing for the rebuilding franchise last season.
The Thunder need help for their lone star Russell Westbrook and they might say "yes" to this potential exchange.
What the Lakers get in this is Singler who will add size to their front line and could be a defensive improvement. The 28-year-old was a former college star while playing for Duke and he entered the league as a second-round pick (33rd overall) by the Detroit Pistons in the 2011 draft.
Singler was a prospect after being selected, but he never really got it going since becoming a pro. He did well with the Pistons but after more than two seasons, he was sent to the Thunder. With the latter, he is a bench piece who is putting up subpar numbers. Last season, in 68 games (two starts), he averaged 3.4 points with 2.1 rebounds per contest.
In Los Angeles, Singler might have the chance to emerge and be a star once again, or at least an efficient role player that will contribute on both ends of the floor.
Meanwhile, the future pick is big for the Lakers since it is known that they are rebuilding and these are beneficial for any organization undergoing this process.
