Los Angeles Lakers trade rumors 2016: Carl Landry on team's radar?
The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly one of the teams in the National Basketball Association (NBA) interested in veteran forward Carl Landry, who remains a free agent this off-season.

Only a few notable players are left on the market and Landry is one of them. Aside from the Lakers, the Houston Rockets (his former team), San Antonio Spurs, and the Indiana Pacers are also believed to be eyeing the 32-year-old.
What Landry can provide the Lakers with if they succeed in landing him is an efficient offensive contributor who has a career-average of 10.8 points per game. His best scoring run was during the 2009-10 season when he was with the Sacramento Kings and recorded 18 points each night.
Along with the offensive contribution, Landry will also be one of the veteran leaders in Los Angeles if he signs with the purple and gold franchise. As an experienced power forward, he can mentor the younger front line players, especially the up and coming Julius Randle.
For now, it is uncertain if the Lakers are really targeting Landry and if they are inviting him to training camp. They've already inked a number of players who will compete for a roster spot and those might be enough for them.
But if the Lakers are aiming for Landry, they are likely competing with the squads mentioned who are also wanting to acquire the services of the former Purdue player.
The Lakers are having a good off-season so far, but again, they failed to land stars in free agency or via trade.
Some of the Lakers' greatest additions are Timofey Mozgov, who was signed to address their need for a center, together with Luol Deng (free agency) and Jose Calderon (trade) who were brought in to add veteran presence. Recently, big man Yi Jianlian was also granted a contract with Mozgov suffering an injury.
