'Longmire' season 5 spoilers: Upcoming season is three hours longer and darker
It's a good time to be a fan of Netflix's "Longmire." Several news recently confirmed some good news for the upcoming season five: release date time frame, longer running time, and even more episodes.
"Longmire" had a cancellation scare last year when its original network A&E did not renew it for a fourth season. But the fans made sure that the show won't die. After an ardent campaign on social media, the fans successfully pushed the Western crime drama to be picked up for season four by Netflix. And after a successful run in the Internet streaming site, "Longmire" is now gearing for another season...with lots of good changes that will surely delight the fans.
Lou Dimond Phillips, who plays Walt Longmire's (Robert Taylor) best friend Henry Standing Bear, spoke to Variety last month to reveal some changes to the running time of the netflix ccrime drama. He says that since the show is no longer boxed in a network schedule, they can finally break away from the 42-hour mark and stretch the show to one hour. I serves the then background characters well as the longer run time gives the show freedom to expose more of the other characters.
"We were previously constrained to 42 minutes and as a result, a lot of my work hit the floor. With an additional 20 minutes, we can let those moments breathe and round out those characters and it's a much more cinematic experience episode to episode," Phillips said.
It is also probably this freedom that will allow the television series to explore eeper themes and storylines. Yibada mentions in a report that season five may be darker than all four previous seasons. It also reports that with the lengthened run time, fans can expect a season that's three hours longer than the previous season.
More on "Longmmire" season five soon as news become available.
