LG G5 vs HTC 10 specs comparison: Devices with similar hardware have different looks

Since the LG G5 was announced this year, the smartphone has been picking up a lot of fans who have been attracted to its modular design. However, HTC is hoping to swing some of that attention toward its upcoming smartphone, the HTC 10, and this is how these two devices compare.

Design

There is a full metal body on the LG G5 and a fingerprint scanner on its rear, which gives the device a premium look and feel. Also, there are no antenna lines at the back, which gives it a smooth look, but there is a slot at the bottom that can be used to add modules. Two modules are also available for the device, one has an additional battery and controls for a camera, while the other is a HiFi audio player. As for colors, the device comes in gold, pink, silver, and titan. Coming to the HTC 10, which has not yet been released, Android Authority estimates it would have a metal body like the previous year's flagship. This year's flagship is also expected to have a fingerprint scanner incorporated into its home button and a dual-color scheme. Leaked renders have also indicated that the device could come in gold, gray, and a silver/gold combination.

Display

In terms of display, the HTC 10 could come with an AMOLED version measuring 5.1 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and density of 570 pixels per inch. As for the LG G5, it has an IPS LCD screen measuring 5.3 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and density of 554 pixels per inch.

Hardware

When it comes to hardware, the LG G5 has the latest Snapdragon 820 chipset on board, coupled with a quad-core CPU and an Adreno 530 GPU. Rumors about the HTC 10 have indicated that the handset will also have the same chipset like the LG G5.

Memory

The LG G5 supports up to 200 GB of external storage in its memory slot, and as of now, the HTC 10 is rumored to have the same ability. In terms of RAM, the LG G5 has 4 GB on board and the same could be true for the HTC 10.

Camera

The HTC 10 could have a 12-megapixel camera and it could be the same type that was used on the Nexus 6P, as the LG G5 has a two cameras at its rear, one is a 16-megapixel version and another is an 8-megapixel version.

Price

Comparing price, the LG G5 costs $199 with a two-year contract and the HTC 10 could come with a similar price tag.
