Lenovo K4 Note release date, specs rumors: Phablet could arrive with metal body and fingerprint scanner in January

Lenovo is a Chinese manufacturer that is much better known in the western hemisphere than others. Now it looks like it will expand its smartphone offering further by releasing a successor to the K3 Note. More importantly, the device, which has been dubbed K4 Note, is expected to be released in India first, as was hinted at in a teaser from the company.
The official teaser for the K4 Note arrived on the Twitter account maintained by Lenovo in India and it was titled "killer note." It will apparently mark the "dawn of a new age." GSMArena states that the actual name of the upcoming device was not seen in the image that was featured on the Twitter account, but it is assumed that the phablet being referred to is the K4 Note.
As for the K3 Note which was released this year, it has a display measuring 5.5 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. Powering the device is a MediaTek MT6752 chipset that is coupled with an octa-core CPU and 2 GB of RAM. Storage is also expandable on the device, which has a plastic body.
However, many are expecting the K4 Note to have a metal body and even a fingerprint scanner — the latter becoming a standard on most devices. Fingerprint scanners are used for unlocking smartphones and for authenticating payments made via mobile payments systems. Now, even budget-friendly phones like the Redmi Note 3, which have a starting cost of $140 unlocked, have fingerprint scanners. So it will come as no surprise if the K4 Note comes with one.
Not much is known about K4 Note's hardware, but it is expected to be better than its predecessor's. The upcoming device will likely have a 5.5-inch display and be affordably priced. As for the release date, all rumors point toward it arriving in January of next year.
