On the upcoming episode 19, titled "Sheltered Outcasts," of the 17th season of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," a member of the SVU goes undercover.

According to the official synopsis from The Futon Critic, SVU's Detective Carisi (Peter Scanavino) goes on an undercover mission as a homeless man at a homeless shelter. He's in disguise as a part of the ongoing investigation on the successive rape incidents in the neighborhood. He has to determine which one is the suspect among them.

Carisi's dangerous undercover mission goes to a wrong turn, when instead of finding who the criminal is, he ends up being a target of the rape victims' family. The promo trailer for "Sheltered Outcasts" shows Carisi confronted and accused as the rapist by a group of men, who are relatives of the victims, in the neighborhood where a lot of people are killed. The clip ends with the "biggest SVU shocker of the year" — someone's death.

However, good news is, Richard Belzer will return in a guest role as John Munch, according to Entertainment Weekly. The pioneer cast member permanently left the show in season 15.

He will appear in the upcoming episode titled "Fashionable Crimes," which is expected to air sometime in May. Munch will investigate a case about a fashion photographer who allegedly preyed a young model. Munch and Fin will put this photographer under their radar, but they could not file a legitimate case against him.

The police procedural series' executive producer Warren Leight said, "This episode was perfect for Munch's cynical eye, and just the right time for him to give Benson [Mariska Hargitay], and Noah, some much needed support."

The previous episode, titled "Unholiest Alliance," showed the SVU team having a hard time to expose the sex trafficking operation that is controlled in government offices, police department, and the Catholic Church.

"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" airs every Wednesday at 9 p.m. on NBC.
