Kate Middleton is just weeks away from delivering her second child at the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital in Paddington. Speculations and bets are being placed, which are highly common in England before the birth of a royal baby. Wagers are generally placed on the child's possible gender and name.

The Week reports that, overall, it seems she will give birth to a beautiful baby girl. Pippa Middleton threw a baby shower that was described as fit for a princess. The venue was reportedly rife with pink-iced cupcakes, pink cocktails and a huge white cake with strawberry filling. Additionally, the report states that Kate Middleton is sporting a higher and wider baby bump than at the same stage of her pregnancy while carrying George, which is a telltale sign that she is carrying a female child.

The Duchess is also frequently nibbling sweet treats such as chocolate biscuits, cake and sticky fruit loaves. According to old wives' tales that is a sure sign she will give birth to a daughter this time. Another indicator she will have a female child this month is the fact that designer Annie Sloan supplied feminine paint samples to Anmer Hall, where the nursery is located. The shades varied from lilac to pink red hues.

When Kate announced her due date is mid-to-end of April, it sparked speculation on the exact due date. If Catherine gives birth on April 21 it coincides with the Queen's birthday while an April 29 date will put her daughter's birthday in line with her and William's wedding anniversary.

Meanwhile, a source told People magazine that this time, The Duchess wants a longer maternity leave in order to bond with her family and the new baby. Last time, just five weeks after George's birth, the Duchess attended an event with Prince William. The royal source said, "She felt she came back too soon last time. She wants to have that (family) and enjoy it with George and the new baby."

She will recuperate and spend time with George and possibly her daughter at the family's country home in Anmer Hall.
