Joey Feek cancer update: Country singer surrounded by family during last days
As Joey Feek counts her remaining days to live, the outpouring of love from her family never stops to reach the bed where she lies — still with a genuine smile across her face that proves happiness can overshadow the grief hanging in the air.
On Jan. 26, Rory Feek, Joey's husband and the other half of singer-duo Joey Rory, shared an intimate photo of Joey with their 23-month-old daughter, Indiana, in her lap and her sister-in-law Marcy sitting to the right side of her bed.
"...[M]y sister Marcy reminiscing w Joey (and Indy) about how they started the restaurant together nine years ago. What a beautiful blessing Marcy Jo's has been to our family and so many others," Rory captioned the latest photo on their Facebook page.
He was referring to Marcy Jo's Mealhouse, the family's restaurant near their home in Pottsville, Tennessee.
In an archived post in the couple's blog, Rory reminisced how the establishment came to existence. "This little cafe started as a by-chance conversation at our kitchen table in 2006. Marcy, Joey and I were having coffee and started talking about the old rundown general store just down the road that was empty," he began.
"I think it was Marcy who said, 'Jo, we should put a restaurant in there,'" he added. And the idea of building the family restaurant was born from there.
The restaurant was officially opened in January 2007. The sisters-in-law did all the work to make the business successful and live by the the slogan, "Changing Lives...One Bite At A Time." Marcy cooked while Joey did the waitressing, and they both shared the baking duties.
The couples and duet partners are set to release their "Hymns That Are Important to Us" album on Feb. 12. It will come with a special deluxe edition available only at Cracker Barrel stores across the country.
