'Iron Man 4' rumors: is delay due to Robert Downey Jr pay negotiations? Reference to plot in 'Ant-Man' deleted scene?
Robert Downey Jr's contract as Iron Man expired after "Iron Man 3" but fans know that magic was whipped up, allowing the actor to reprise the role in both "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and the upcoming "Captain America: Civil War." While it's likely that RDJ won't be donning the iron suit anymore, there are still speculations on what a possible fourth "Iron Man" movie might be about.
"Iron Man 4" has always been up in the air, with Marvel fans expecting Downey to reprise his role as Tony Stark's alter ego. After all, he extended his contract to accommodate important appearances in "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and "Captain America: Civil War." The character has been doing pretty well with fans and the last "Iron Man" film even grossed over a billion dollars. As such, RDJ is rumored to be asking for a pay hike if he is to do "Iron Man 4." According to Parent Herald, the 50-year old actor is demanding a $50 million salary. With negotiations allegedly still underway, the movie is headed for some delays.
But this remains a rumor at the moment. What is sure, though, is that the recent "Ant-Man" film includes an Iron Man Easter egg. It is unsure if it's just a simple Iron Man reference or a clue as to what the next "Iron Man" film installment is about.
"Ant-Man" was released in digital HD on Nov. 17 and will come out on 3D Blu-ray this Dec. 3. Along with the full-feature film are some bonus features like the deleted scene where the Iron Man reference was dropped. In the exclusive deleted scene posted by Entertainment Weekly, director Peyton Reed brings everyone's attention to the tattoo on the buyer's neck. He teased, "Is that a Ten Rings' tattoo?" Moviegoers will remember that the Ten Rings is the terrorist group that was the main antagonist in the first "Iron Man." Actor Paul Rudd, however, was quick to jump in and say it's merely the 1996 Olympics, which could be just a ploy to throw people off.
