'Insurgent' movie trailer, plot spoilers: Teaser shows Tris' mental state
The sequel to the movie 'Divergent,' dubbed 'Insurgent,' is coming up, and a teaser trailer has been released to entice fans who loved the book or the first film.
The teaser includes some elements that have gotten many fans to start asking questions about the celebrated movie adaptation of Veronica Roth's young adult science fiction trilogy.
In the trailer, Tris (Shailene Woodley), is seen trying to save her mother (Ashley Judd) from a house on fire. The burning house then floats and, while suspended in the air, trying to save both their lives, Tris grabs her mother. The two are then flung inside a window, which presumably saved them both.
Though Roth's trilogy is known to be of a science fiction nature, "floating houses" appear to be absent in the novels, which has gotten fans to start asking questions. It is also well-known for those who have seen the first film that Tris' mother passed away, suggesting that this scene could be a dream sequence for Tris.
And a dream sequence might not be the only explanation. SheKnows reports that this could in fact be straight from Tris' "fear sequence."
Going back to the first movie, Tris had to go under several simulations to become a fulltime Dauntless member, and this could have included simulations to make her eradicate all fears. It is also known that Tris is blaming herself for the death of her mother, and that saving her could completely remove this fear of hers.
This gives a glimpse of what Tris will be like in the sequel: fearless, and most of all, brave.
