'Injustice 2' release date: game to feature more 'girl power,' says Ed Boon

(Facebook/Injustice)Fans can expect more "girl power" when "Injustice 2" is released.

After the announcement of "Injustice 2," the sequel to "Injustice: Gods Among Us," fans looking forward to laying their hands on the upcoming game are treated to more details about it. Among the many things that fans can look forward to in the game, one thing that has fans excited is the supposed increased "girl power" in "Injustice 2."

On his Twitter account, NetherRealm Studios creative director Ed Boon revealed that the upcoming game will, indeed, feature more "girl power." While the first "Injustice" game already boasts of a good roster of female DC characters, such as Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Catwoman, Batgirl, and many more, those looking forward to the game can only wonder what it means.

When the gameplay teaser of "Injustice 2" was revealed at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) last week, one of the things that caught the attention of those who are eagerly anticipating the game is the part featuring Supergirl, where she is seen being pitted against Batman as she unleashes her Kryptonian might and power.

While it is true that in the said gameplay teaser Supergirl creamed Batman, it doesn't mean, though, that the latter is no match to the Girl of Steel at all. For one thing, he is Batman, and, secondly, the upcoming "Injustice 2" game will give the gamers the opportunity to customize their chosen characters by upgrading their gears.

In his interview with Rolling Stones, Boon said that "Injustice 2" comes with a wide array of gears or costume pieces and weapons that can increase a character's fighting ability. The fate of the characters is highly reliant on the gamers themselves as they are the ones who will determine what gears to provide their characters so that he or she will gain more strength, speed, or health, and many more.

"There are thousands and thousands of pieces for, let's say, the Flash. You are in the constant process of making your version of the Flash," explained Boon.

With this, fans can only wonder what Boon means when he tweeted that fans can expect more "girl power" from "Injustice 2." Whether it means more DC female characters in the game or an increase in the number of playable female superheroes and villains, fans can only guess.

As he clearly does not refer to the inclusion of the Spice Girls in the game, fans can only take the advice of Boon himself on his tweet to understand what he means: "Stay tuned."
