'Indiana Jones 5' news: Is the movie confirmed, or canceled?

News about "Indiana Jones 5" has been making the rounds for quite some time. Disney confirmed the movie early this year, but no updates have been made since, which leads to speculations that the movie could be canceled or was just a rumor all along.
The Hollywood Reporter broke the news on March 15 quoting the announcement as coming from Disney. The report says that actor Harrison Ford will reprise his role as the lead with Steven Spielberg as the director and Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall as producers. A July 19, 2019 release date was also mentioned.
The publication also quotes Disney chairman Alan Horn as saying, "It's rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn't be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven."
The news came after the success of another Disney franchise film, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" where Ford also reprised his role as the iconic character Han Solo. A standalone "Han Solo" prequel film with a younger actor has since been announced.
Before the announcement, Kennedy said, "We're all trying to figure out when the right time is to step back in. Harrison really wants to do it; Steven really wants to do it. We've kicked around a couple of story ideas, but beyond that, I don't know yet. I think there will be one, we'll certainly move forward with Indy," in an earlier interview with the same publication.
The last "Indiana Jones" film was shown in 2008 where Ford starred with actor Shia LaBeouf who was supposed to take over the character from there. It looks like LaBeouf will not be in the upcoming movie, however, based a recent interview with Variety. LaBeouf expressed disappointment over the film and says he does not consider it a success despite earning almost $800 worldwide.
Disney has plenty of projects at hand at the moment and more than two years to go before the target release. More of "Indiana Jones 5" may be announced soon.
