'The Incredibles 2' movie update: Writer-director Brad Bird has so many ideas for the sequel it's a struggle

It's been more than a decade since "The Incredibles" first hit theaters and fans are mystified as to why it has taken this long for writer-director Brad Bird to come up with a sequel to the animated hit. But now it seems that things are finally in motion and the superhero family will soon be seen in "The Incredibles 2."
Bird mentioned in a previous interview that the sequel took a while to conceptualize because he had a lot of ideas that he wanted to put in the movie.
"I wanted to come up with sort of an over-arching idea that connected to the first film that went somewhere different," the director explained to Coming Soon. "That's the one that took a little more time."
But now it appears that the director has finally come up with the perfect story line that would tie the two films together.
He admitted to being excited about the sequel but has so far been careful about revealing what "The Incredibles 2" will be about. With the plot kept under wraps, a lot of speculations surrounding the movie and its direction have surfaced. The latest report pegs Frozone, Edna Mode and Jack-Jack to be the main characters in the sequel.
Frozone has been a long-time family friend of the Parr family, having worked with Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl before they settled down. The character immediately became a fan favorite because of his cool vibe and witty comments. The fact that he was voiced by Samuel L. Jackson didn't hurt either, so a longer screen time or even a back story in the next movie would be nice.
Edna Mode, the Parrs' costume designer, is another character that will reportedly play a bigger role in the next movie.
In "The Incredibles," the youngest of the Parr children was still a baby. And while Jack-Jack was initially thought of to be "normal" — that is, he didn't exhibit superhuman powers at first — it was soon revealed that his powers were the most mysterious of all. There's been a lot of buzz about this and that he might even be one of the villains in the sequel.
There's no official release date set yet but fans might have to wait a while as "The Incredibles 2" is rumored to be released by November 2016.
