'Humans' season 2 spoilers: Cast and synopsis revealed
Filming for season 2 of the hit series "Humans" has begun last month. Viewers of the show cannot wait to watch what happens to the synths and their human friends, and fortunately, some details have been shared.
At a panel organized by the Royal Television Society last October, one of the show's writers, Sam Vincent, has revealed that most of season 1's cast are returning. He also shared that the upcoming season will "go deeper into relationships between humans and synths, all kinds: sexual ones, love ones, romantic love, platonic love and familial."
The first season has introduced conscious synths to viewers wherein the artificial humans are able to feel varying emotions and act beyond their program. Vincent said the spookiness of artificial intelligence and their integration with everyday life will be explored further. Co-writer Jonathan Brackley added that they took notes from the drama the show is based on so the next season will have "a very domestic way into what could be a science fiction show."
AMC has announced that among the new cast members are actress Carrie-Anne Moss who is known best for her role in "The Matrix" films, and actor Sam Palladio who made waves in the TV series "Nashville." Moss will play an A.I. expert who aims to create a new breed of synths, while Palladio is a café owner who struggles to keep his business afloat.
Actor Marshall Allman will also join the show, together with actresses Sonya Cassidy and Letitia Wright.
Familiar faces from season 1 would be stars Gemma Chan, Katherine Parkinson, Tom Goodman-Hill, Emily Berrington, Will Tudo, Colin Morgan, Ivanno Jeremiah, Neil Maskell, and Ruth Bradley.
The network has also shared that the upcoming season will take off several months from the season 1's finale. Estranged couple Joe and Laura will try to give their marriage another shot, but their involvement with the synths will put their whole family in danger. Meanwhile, Mia, Leo, and Max will try to blend in with the crowd while searching for Niska who has kept the consciousness code.
"Humans" season 2 is set to premiere this year in the United Kingdom and will be shown the following year in the United States.
