Earlier this year, HTC hinted that it would be releasing two wearable devices next year in February, and one of these would be the HTC GRIP fitness band. Now rumors have hinted that the other device could be the long rumored HTC One smartwatch.

The most recent rumor about the HTC One smartwatch emerged via a tweet from the account belonging to Evan Blass. On his twitter account tipster Blass hinted that the smartwatch would have a "One" moniker that HTC has used on many of its flagship mobiles and would arrive sometime in February of next year.

However, the rumors about the smartwatch from HTC are not new and have been circulated for years. This has led many industry pundits to suspect that the device could never arrive and it does not exist. But all this could change if the current rumor is true, and since it emerged many have pointed out that Blass has been associated with a number of accurate leaks in the past.

Others, meanwhile, point towards HTC's official statement earlier this year which indicated that it would be bringing out the HTC GRIP fitness band next year along with several other wearable devices. This is the only official indication that the company has provided so far about it plans for creating a bigger portfolio of wearable devices, that will be focused on monitoring the health of the user.

TechnoBuffalo states that the delay of the band from its initial launch date earlier this year and its postponement until next year is not good news for the product. So far, HTC has indicated that the GRIP fitness band will have a P-OLED touchscreen with GPS onboard. It is also thought to be compatible with the RECORD fitness database that is maintained by UnderArmour.

Earlier this year, there were rumors that HTC had decided to name its upcoming smartwatch Halfbeak.
