HTC Desire T7 tablet news: Rumors surface and then bite the dust
With the entire tablet market going through a rough patch, several manufacturers in the sphere have been hedging their bets before releasing new devices. HTC seems to be doing the same and recently, it was rumored that it had an HTC Desire T7 tablet in the works but then other news emerged to contradict the information.
Reporting on the arrival of the HTC Desire T7 tablet, GSMArena states that it was spotted on GFXBench with the model number HTC IV5001-A and it was seen with a 6.9-inch screen. Importantly, the listing on GFXBench revealed some other details about the tablet and showed that it would come with a Spreadtrum SC8830 chipset.
Benchmark sites like GFXBench often result in incorrect specs of tablets and smartphones being released so many are not assigning much value to the current listing that was spotted on the site. However, the listing for the HTC Desire T7 also revealed that it would come with 1 GB RAM and as for internal memory, it would have 16 GB onboard. Some details about the cameras were also revealed in the GFXBench listing and it pointed towards similar 5-megapixel shooters at the rear and front of the device.
It is also thought that the tablet will come with Bluetooth, NFC for mobile payments, GPS and WiFi. As for the launch of the HTC Desire T7, it is thought that it will happen during the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 event, which is due to kick off in Barcelona on Feb. 22.
However, Android Community also reported that HTC seems to not be convinced with the launch of the tablet. It goes on to state that the HTC Desire T7 is rumored to have been cancelled by the company and this information was made public in a leak that appeared on a Chinese social media account. If this is true, it could mean that HTC plans to skip MWC 2016 altogether.
