A Most Valuable Player (MVP) is joining the Houston Rockets, as forward Michael Beasley is setting his sights to a return to the National Basketball Association (NBA) after a stint with the Shandong Golden Stars of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).

Beasley was recently named the MVP among foreign players in the CBA and now, he is about to reinforce Houston's frontcourt.

According to ESPN, the Rockets agreed to sign Beasley for the league minimum, making him stay for the remainder of the season, with it having a team option for next season.

Beasley was the second overall pick by the Miami Heat in the 2008 NBA Draft and in his first stint with the franchise, he played well and averaged double-digits in scoring.

That was not enough, however, as he was traded two seasons after to the Minnesota Timberwolves where he averaged a career-best 19.2 points per game during his first year with the team.

Following a stint with the Timberwolves, the 27-year-old signed with the Phoenix Suns but only lasted for one season.

Since then, Beasley has been bouncing back and forth in both leagues, although he only played for one NBA team during that phase and it was for Miami.

What the Rockets get in adding Beasley is a big man that can post up and score in the paint.

Beasley can also space the floor with his outside shooting with a range that includes the three-point area and ball handling ability.

The former Kansas State Wildcat may also be a defensive presence to aid big men like Dwight Howard and Clint Capela.

Beasley's addition is another roster move by the Rockets who just waived point guard Ty Lawson.

Houston is pulling all the stops as it tries to remain in the top eight in the Western Conference standings; it is now eighth with a 30–31 record.
