'House of Cards' season 5 spoilers: Remy Danton no longer on the show; Michael Kelly talks about fall of Frank Underwood

(Facebook/House of Cards)The Underwoods' rise or fall to power will continue in the upcoming season of "House of Cards," which is speculated to air next year on Netflix.

Actor Mahershala Ali revealed he will no longer reprise his role as Remy Danton in "House of Cards" season 5. In other news, actor Michael Kelly admitted that the fall of Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) in season 3 was something creator and former executive producer Beau Willimon planned on.

Ali has been cast as the villain for the upcoming "Luke Cage" standalone series, but many fans did not think joining another show would mean he will no longer appear in "House of Cards" season 5. A week ago, in a published interview with GQ, he revealed that he is done with the series.

He explained, "I've never talked about it. It's time to go. I want to do more. There's only so much space for you to stretch and develop and grow because there are so many characters." However, he still considers his stint as Remy his breakthrough role. He said that being part of the series has led him to do other things such as his role on "Hunger Games: Mockingjay" where he played Boggs.

Remy has helped Frank rise and stay in power since his journey began on "House of Cards." There have been speculations that Frank will meet his fall and even demise in the upcoming season, and Ali's exit might just indicate what's about to come.

If Frank's grip on power loosens, however, it won't be the first time as the same thing was teased when season 3 ended. Kelly plays Frank's most trusted ally, Doug Stamper, on the show and, in an interview with The Wrap, the actor revealed, "I remember Beau telling me for Season 3, he said, 'I want to see what happens when these characters fail,' He's like, 'I can write you and Kevin twirling your moustaches forever and destroying everything in your path, but I think it would be — I just want to challenge myself. I want to see what happens when they fail.'"

When season 5 returns, will luck still be at Frank's side? The last scene showing Claire Underwood (Robin Wright) break the fourth wall has given rise to many speculations, most of which suggest she will either take over the presidency or have her husband assassinated.

"House of Cards" season 5 is currently in production, but the premiere date has yet to be announced. It is expected to be shown by the second quarter of 2017.
