'House of Cards' season 5 premiere spoilers: Claire Underwood, Doug Stamper to betray Frank Underwood?

The upcoming season of "House of Cards" has been plagued with numerous rumors, the most interesting of which has to do with Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) being betrayed by his own wife, Claire (Robin Wright). Rumor also has it that she won't have to do it alone; she will reportedly be aided by Frank's own right-hand man, Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly).
Should this rumor be true, it can certainly be considered as a shocking twist to the already dramatic world of "House of Cards." As a series filled with intrigue and political betrayals, it will definitely become more exciting in the new season.
Although there are speculations as to how Claire and Doug might turn their backs on Frank, the most prominent one involves Doug actually murdering the Underwood patriarch and president. As to how this will come about, it is widely believed that Doug will be talked into betraying his loyalties by none other than Leann Harvey (Neve Campbell), who is rumored to be a romantic interest of Doug's.
Meanwhile, another rumor states that Claire might be the one to do the dirty work herself. If Doug doesn't end up in cahoots with the two ladies in order to bring down the president, Claire might take things into her own hands and kill her husband all on her own. Claire has already managed to climb up the ranks, all the way to the vice presidential seat, so it's no wonder she may have a thirst for more power.
With so much political drama going on, it's about time that Frank gets overthrown or usurped in his position as the chief of the United States of America. His ambition has certainly led him to great heights, but he should know better and sleep with one eye open. After all, the presidential position comes with a lot of baggage.
"House of Cards" season 5 will make its debut on Netflix in early 2017.
