With the Honor 5X due to be released in the United States soon, it is likely that the device is going to get a number of competitors as it lands in the market. One of it is the Redmi Note 3. Here is how these two Chinese-made devices compare in a face off.

Design

The Honor 5X from Huawei is definitely not a laggard as it comes with a full metal body and has nice rounded edges, which give it a premium look. However, there is plastic at the bottom and top of the device to accommodate the antennas, and it is evident on the back panel of the device. There is also a fingerprint scanner on the device's back panel and in terms of colors, it comes in gold, black and white. The Redmi Note 3 from Xiaomi is not much different in terms of design as it, too, has a full metal body, a fingerprint scanner on its back panel and it comes in gray, silver and gold colors.

Display

Here, the displays on both these devices are fairly equal and each measures 5.5 inches. On the Note 3 is an IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 403 pixels per inch, while the Honor 5X comes with an IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 401 pixels per inch.

Specs

Onboard the Redmi Note 3 is a Mediatek Helio X10 chipset coupled with an octa-core CPU and a PowerVR G6200 GPU. As for the Honor 5X, it comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset coupled with an octa-core CPU, and an Adreno 405 GPU.

Memory

There is no memory slot on the Redmi Note 3 and so external storage cannot be tacked on while the Honor 5X supports up to 128 GB. In terms of RAM, the Honor 5X either has 2 GB or 3 GB and the same is true for the Redmi Note 3.

Price

The unlocked Redmi Note 3 from Xiaomi has a starting price tag of $140 while the Honor 5X costs $199 without a contract.
