'Homeland' season 6 plot spoilers: Quinn will return
It's confirmed. Actor Rupert Friend will return to the sixth season of Showtime's political thriller "Homeland," as the CIA paramilitary officer Quinn.
In the previous season's finale episode, Quinn was last seen critically wounded after his covert Syrian mission. After the season wrapped up, a lot of fans and viewers assumed that Quinn is dead. Fortunately, Friend himself confirmed that his character is still alive and kicking.
"I hope he enjoys eating through a tube," Friend quipped, Entertainment Weekly reports. Showrunner Alex Gansa chimed in, "How [Quinn] is gonna be dramatized this year is going to surprise people, and it may not be what you think."
Friend added that fans can expect a changed Quinn, who will show more of his intimate and personal side. The same description was what Showtime programming chief Gary Levine hinted during the Television Critics Association winter press tour last January. He said that if the CIA officer survives, "it will not be — in any way, shape or form — the way he has lived to date."
Now that Quinn's status has been confirmed, the question is how Carrie and Quinn's relationship's status will end up. At the verge of his death last season, Quinn left a letter to Carrie, confessing his feelings for her. Gansa said that both characters have recognized each other's worth. However, being romantically compatible is another issue.
As for what fans can look forward to in season 6's plot, Gansa teased that there will be a very complex transfer of power that comes with all sorts of anxiety and competing interests. "There is this strange period in America where there are 72 days when it's not exactly clear who's in charge, and there is a new president that needs to be educated on what it means to be president," Gansa further explained.
"Homeland" season 6 is set to return in the fall on Showtime.
