'High School Musical 4' cast news: Corbin Bleu to reprise his role in new sequel

(Facebook / High School Musical)"High School Musical" is set to introduce new characters to love in the upcoming fourth sequel.

Aside from actor Zac Efron and actress Vanessa Hudgens, actor Corbin Bleu has been reported to reprise his role as Chad Danforth in the upcoming "High School Musical." A new generation of characters will be introduced as it is not yet known what role the returning cast members would play.

Efron and Hudgens led the cast in the previous installments as Troy and Gabriela, respectively. They are two people who seem different at first, but ended up falling in love with each other. Troy is the basketball superstar who discovered performing as his other passion. Gabriela is the new girl in school who is known for her intelligence, but she loves to sing as well.

Chad is Troy's besfriend and the co-captain of the high school varsity team. He initially plotted to break the two apart so Troy could concentrate on winning the games, but later on became supportive of the two. He has since became friends with Gabriela's circle as well.

It has been rumored that Troy and Gabriela will be the new mentors of the school's drama club. Chad's inclusion resulted to speculations that he will be the new coach of the East High high school basketball team.

In Disney's statement regarding the casting calls, president and chief creative officer of Disney Channels Worldwide Gary Marsh is quoted as saying, "'High School Musical' is part of Disney Channel's DNA. It embodies all that we stand for."

Among the new characters viewers will meet are Erin, Derek and Campbell. Erin is described as a the only girl in the boys' soccer team who falls for the wrong guy. Derek is the perceived badboy she falls in love with. He also plays soccer and teacher dance at the same time.

Campbell is referred to as "Troy Bolton 2.0," the hot soccer captain and theater star who falls in love with Erin.

"High School Musical 4" is expected to premiere next year.
