'Hawaii Five-0' season 7 cast updates: Showrunner Pete Lenkov shoots down final season rumors; Doris McGarrett to return for 150th episode

(Twitter/@HawaiiFive0CBS)Doris McGarrett and Catherine Rollins are confirmed to be returning in the series' 150th episode.

"Hawaii Five-0" will be hitting the milestone 150th episode in season 7 and the show has big plans for it, namely the return of Doris McGarrett and Catherine Rollins.

The last time fans saw Doris McGarrett (Christine Lahti) was way back in season 3. She left Hawaii again at the end of the season, and while she hasn't been seen since then, several episodes hinted that she was looking out for her son in her own way. Now fans will reportedly see the mother and son reunited in "Hawaii Five-0's" 150th episode.

The character's return was confirmed by both Lahti and showrunner Pete Lenkov on Twitter. The former tweeted that she was indeed returning to the show, while the latter thanked her for it.

"We're going to bring McGarrett's mom back, to wrap up the mom/Wo Fat/father mythology, and then start some new storylines in the episode that follows," Lenkov expounded to TV Line. Another important lady in Steve McGarrett's (Alex O'Loughlin) life is set to return during that milestone episode, his ex-girlfriend Catherine Rollins (Michelle Borth). Fans will recall that the Lieutenant Commander was all set to propose to her when she left him. Rollins' return has had fans wondering if she and Steve will finally get hitched, which was what the Five-0 leader wanted. That's certainly possible, given that Lenkov had teased that McGarrett's near-death experience in season 6 has had him thinking about his life and what legacy he would be leaving behind.

However, McGarrett also told Rollins that if she did decide to leave him, he wouldn't be waiting for her anymore so it's possible that two might not even end up together. The excitement of having two fan favorites back on the show was dampened a bit by rumors that season 7 would also be "Hawaii Five-0's" final season. The confusion apparently came about when Jimmy Buffet, who has a recurring role in the series as pilot Frank Bama, mentioned several times that season 7 was "the last season." Lenkov quickly shut down those rumors by tweeting and assuring Buffett that "Bama is alive and well" and hinted that the character would be around for many more seasons.

That's certainly good news for fans who are waiting to see whether McGarrett will have his happy ending, if Chin Ho (Daniel Dae Kim) will become a father and whether Kono (Grace Park) and Adam (Ian Anthony Dale) can finally live in peace.

The premiere episode of "Hawaii Five-0" season 7 will be aired on CBS on Sept. 23 at 9 p.m.
