'Grey's Anatomy' season 12 spoilers: big changes in relationships expected when series returns
"Grey's Anatomy" season 12 is currently on hiatus but big changes are said to be in the horizon.
A new face will be coming to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital as actor Scott Elrod has been confirmed to be joining the cast for the remainder of season 12. The "Soap Shows" site says the actor, who's known for playing in "The Young and the Restless," will either portray a doctor or an intern. But it's still unknown in what episode he will make his debut.
The actor is a veteran of prime time shows, with appearances in "Anger Management," "Castle" and "NCIS: Los Angeles." He has also previously worked with Shonda Rhimes in "How to Get Away with Murder."
His experience working on a long-running soap opera and on prime time shows has given the 40-year-old Elrod a unique look at how the two genres differ. "Michael Fairman Soaps" quoted the actor as saying there's a big difference when shooting scenes from the two genres, with the pace being hinted as being the game changer.
"I can't believe how quick everything runs behind the scenes on 'Y&R,' he explained. "On 'How to get Away with Murder' I was on set all day but they still hadn't shot my five pages.
Aside from the latest addition to the cast, fans of "Grey's Anatomy" should gear up for some changes in the relationships of the Grey sisters and other residents. "Design & Trend" enumerated some of these changes, like Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) and Owen (Kevin McKidd) hitting a big wall when Meredith's (Ellen Pompeo) sister thought her partner was pushing her away. There's also Maggie (Kelly McCreary) and Andrew (Giacomo Gianniotti), who resolved not to have sex anymore. But that resolution flew out the window during the winter finale.
"Grey's Anatomy's" creator has also hinted of some major changes in store for Meredith this season.
"Grey's Anatomy" season 12 will return with a new episode on Feb. 11, 2016.
