Last episode, the audience saw Meredith making preparations to meet Derek in Washington, D.C for some alone time. She sought out a babysitter and left to Washington. Or did she? The promotional video for the upcoming episode 12 shows Maggie questioning Meredith's whereabouts. She wasn't in D.C since Derek called Meredith's half-sister three times. So where was Meredith, if not in Washington?

The official episode's synopsis, as revealed by TV Guide, also specifies that Ben's brother has a health scare, which leads to Ben and Bailey worrying about him. Additionally, Dr. Herman starts seeing Arizona in a positive light. Richard starts to think that his former fiancée Catherine has been manipulating him all along. The promotional video also shows Jo trying to make a move on a recently single Arizona while Dr. Herman polishes her romantic skills because of her feelings for Owen.

However, speculations are rife as to where Meredith went. While cheating on her husband is the obvious option, many fans expressed that this is unlikely since she claimed earlier that she would kill Derek if he cheated on her. It doesn't seem likely that Meredith would cheat on Derek, according to the International Business Times. What does seem likely, though, is that Meredith went to meet Christina Yang, who is in Switzerland.

Another rumor suggests that Meredith could be experiencing the symptoms of an early on-set of Alzheimer's since her mother suffered it too. It has long been known that Meredith will eventually succumb to the disease that her mother suffered from. Meanwhile, Jerrika Hinton told E Online that Stephanie will significantly advance in her career, saying, "but that's what's on deck for her, another gigantically groundbreaking surgical discovery."

While actress Sandra Oh has left the show, it doesn't rule out her appearance in future episodes. To solve the mystery on Meredith's whereabouts during her supposed trip to D.C watch "Grey's Anatomy" episode 12 "The Great Pretender" of season 11 on ABC on Feb. 19 at 8 p.m. ET.
