Marnie (Allison Williams) and Ray (Alex Karpovsky) will have a tumultuous relationship if they ever decide to be together in "Girls" season 6. The actor confirmed this with TV Line, stating that a love affair is possible if both characters would put in a lot of effort to make it work.

During the last installment's finale, Marnie finally confessed to Ray that she was in love with him. For him, it was as if her admission was the only thing he was waiting for. They had coitus, but the aftermath did not look encouraging for both. Marnie told Ray that she could not change herself for him. Although it looked like he understood her, their differences might pose as a threat to their budding relationship.

"It boils down to how much they want it to work — how much effort and dedication they're willing to commit to this enterprise. If they're both willing to actually do the work — have some honesty, some surrender and some courage — there is a chance they can make it work. Whether these two people are willing to put forth that effort at the same time, that's where I have my doubts sometimes," Karpovsky shared.

Meanwhile, there is always the possibility of Ray returning to Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet). Viewers could see they still have feelings for each other when they embraced. The actor said Ray and Shoshanna go all the way back and that they would always have each other's backs. He said they were both "oddballs" and have had some good times together. Does this mean Shoshanna will be a threat to Marnie in season 6?

The upcoming installment will be the last for the HBO series. Programming president Michael Lombardo already announced the news in January (as per The Hollywood Reporter), thanking the cast for bringing "rare wit and intelligence" to the network's roster of shows. He said fans could look forward to the "exceptional talents" that Lena Dunham and the gang would bring on screen in the final season.

"Girls" season 6 will premiere some time in 2017.
