'Girl Meets World' season 4 updates: Disney Channel to cancel sitcom?

(Facebook/BMWSequel)Fans await news on "Girl Meets World" season 4.

Fans of "Girl Meets World" are hoping that Disney Channel will announce the show's renewal in the coming days. The series' fate is still up in the air and many are worried that Riley (Rowan Blanchard) and Maya's (Sabrina Carpenter) story has come to an end.

Disney has yet to confirm if there is going to be a renewal or cancellation for the coming-of-age show. At the moment, there are still several episodes left before the current season ends. Blanchard has previously confirmed that they were done with the filming and were also waiting for the updates. In the event of a season 4, speculations claim that the storyline will contain more mature plots, since the characters have all grown up. Riley and Maya are expected to go to college, where they will encounter new hurdles that will test their mettle. The love triangle with Lucas (Peyton Meyer) is also one plot to look forward to.

In a SheKnows interview, Blanchard says: "I know as much as you do. We are hoping for a Season 4, obviously, because we want to continue our story, and I feel like it's an important story to tell. But as of right now, we just finished [filming] Season 3 and we're still waiting on the word. But we do have more episodes coming out this year that air into early 2017, so we're covered for a little bit."

Meanwhile, rumors are circulating that even the main stars of the show are starting to get impatient with the network's continued silence. Blanchard and Carpenter are allegedly very disappointed with Disney and have started to complain. Some even claim that the two actresses are the reason why the show is being canceled. There is also gossip stating that "Girl Meets World" is going to be scrapped and the original series "Boy Meets World" will return.
