'Gilmore Girls' revival Netflix premiere, latest update: Cast alert
As the days leading to "Gilmore Girls" revival completion shortens, the list of actors and actresses joining the Netflix special gets longer.
The four 90-minute highly episodes have become a star-studded comeback as more and more stars are joining the show. It was revealed that the four episodes will represent the seasons in a year, which means the titles would be "Winter," "Spring," "Summer," and "Fall." The special will be set in the present day so viewers will see what has become of the beloved characters eight years after.
All of the living original cast members have been confirmed to return for the revival, except for actress Melissa McCarthy who plays the beloved bestfriend Sookie. Actor Edward Herrmann will be missed as the Gilmore patriarch Richard, but fans of the series are looking forward to a touching tribute for him.
The Gilmore girls Rory, Lorelai, and Emily will be joined by Luke, Lane, Michel, Paris, Dean, Kirk, Jess, Jason, Logan, Miss Patty, Mrs. Kim, Jackson, Babette, Taylor, Christopher, Gypsy, Zach, Gil, Doyle, Mitchum, and April. It would be exciting to note how many of them have chosen to stay in Stars Hollow and how many would be there to visit.
Some stars from another one of Amy Sherman Palladino's creation, "Bunheads," have been announced to join the revival. The show's lead actress Sutton Foster was first to be announced, followed by actresses Bailey De Young and Stacey Oristano.
Gilmore News recently revealed that Foster will appear in two episodes and that her role is a complete secret. De Young's character's name has been revealed to be Heidi, and Oristano will be seen in the "Fall" chapter of the revival as a mysterious character named Allie.
The show's creators seemingly aim to bring nostalgia to their audiences as actress Mae Whitman is also set to appear in the revival. Whitman played daughter to actress Lauren Graham in another hit series "Parenthood," and according to Tv Line, her appearance will delight "Parenthood" fans.
Although no official date has been announced yet, "Gilmore Girls" revival is set to premiere this year.
