'Game Of Thrones' season 5 spoilers: Liam Cunningham says fans can expect a scene more gruesome than the infamous Red Wedding
Fans world-wide gasped and dropped their jaws at the infamous Red Wedding in season three. It is viewed as the most brutal "Game Of Thrones" scene in the history of the show. But it seems producers have topped it in season five.
Actor Liam Cunningham, who plays the role of Ser Davos Seaworth, told The Independent that there is a scene in the current season that is worse than the Red Wedding. Cunningham was shocked when he read the script. He said, "It's towards the end of the season and when I got the scripts, when I got to this particular section, I went: 'you've gotta be kidding me'". The Red Wedding involved the slaughter of numerous characters, including a heavily pregnant woman.
In episode three of "Game Of Thrones", viewers will finally meet the High Sparrow. He is the leader of the Sparrow movement in Westeros and there will be some drama surrounding the High Septon. The promotional clip also shows Tyrion out in public. He says, "Tyrion and Varys walk the Long Bridge of Volantis." WetPaint speculates that he may get into trouble in episode three, given that he is seen out in public and that Cersci has put a heavy price on his head.
Fans will also glimpse Margaery and Tommen Baratheon who will tie the knot soon, maybe even in the forthcoming episode. Sansa and Little Finger may be headed to Winterfell and Theon Greyjoy will also be seen in episode three. Fortunately, fan-favorite characters Arya Stark and Jon Snow will also share ample screen time.
Avid readers of George RR Martin's "A Song Of Ice And Fire" must set aside all their expectations based on the books since many characters are set to die that live on in the book series.
"High Sparrow" airs on Sunday, April 26 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
