Galaxy S7 vs Huawei Mate 8 specs comparison: Bigger Mate 8 cannot beat the speed of the Galaxy S7

Even though the Galaxy S7 is a smaller device compared to the Huawei Mate 8, it is clear that the both these smartphones are going to become competitors. Here is how they fare when they are pitted against each other in a comparison.

Design

When it comes to design and materials used in these two devices, the Mate 8 comes out ahead as it has a sturdier metal body. Its fingerprint scanner is on the back and it has slim bezels, which means that it is one of the smallest phablets in the market. As for colors, the Mate 8 comes in gold, silver, brown and gray.

Coming to the Galaxy S7, it has a metal frame but its back panel is made from Corning Gorilla Glass 4. There is a fingerprint scanner on the device which is built into its home button. As for colors, users get to choose from silver, gold, white and black.

Coming to water and dust proofing, only the Galaxy S7 has an IP 68 rating and it can stay immersed in 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes.

Display

Here, the Mate 8 is ahead as it has a bigger LCD display measuring 6.0 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a density of 368 pixels per inch. As for the Galaxy S7, it has a Super AMOLED display measuring 5.1 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 577 pixels per inch.

Hardware

There is a faster Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset on Galaxy S7, which is shipping to international locations, and it is coupled with a quad-core CPU and an Adreno 530 GPU. On the Mate 8 is a HiSilicon Kirin 950 chipset, coupled with an octa-core CPU and a Mali-T880 MP4 GPU.

Memory

Onboard the Mate 8, the memory slot supports up to 128 GB of external storage, while the version on the Galaxy S7 supports up to 200 GB. As for RAM, the device from Huawei has either 3 GB or 4 GB and the Galaxy S7 has 4 GB.

Camera

The Mate 8 has a 16-megapixel camera with OIS while the version on the Galaxy S7 is a 12-megapixel version with OIS.

Price

Comparing prices, the Huawei Mate 8 costs $643 unlocked while the Galaxy S7 has a $199 price tag with a two-year contract.
