'Frozen 2' rumors: Demi Lovato replaces Idina Menzel as Elsa's voice

(Facebook/Frozen)Is Disney letting go of Idina Menzel as the voice of Elsa?

As Disney has kept mum on any detail on its already-announced "Frozen 2," various rumors and speculations on the sequel to the 2013 blockbuster have surfaced online. However, the latest in the rumor mill is that Idina Menzel may be replaced by Demi Lovato as the voice actress of Elsa.

While it's true that Menzel, Kristen Bell, and Josh Gad have confirmed earlier that they are returning for "Frozen 2" to lend their voices anew to the characters of Elsa, Anna, and Olaf, respectively, some observers note that it has only been Bell who has been sharing updates on the sequel. With this, there are those who speculate that Menzel may have already been replaced by someone else to voice the Ice Queen in the upcoming animated movie sequel.

Earlier this month, there were reports claiming that either Rihanna or Taylor Swift could replace Menzel, who is a Broadway actress, as Elsa's voice. However, recently, while Swift is still a possible choice, it is said that Demi Lovato is the likely candidate to take over the role as the singer has an impressive vocal range.

As of this writing, Menzel has not issued any official statement to quash the rumors. While her silence on the issue may be interpreted by some as an affirmation, there are those who think that it may mean the other way around. After all, the adage "Silence means yes" does not always hold true.

Meanwhile, apart from the rumors claiming that Menzel has been replaced, there are also numerous speculations as to how the story of "Frozen 2" may play out. However, the latest plot theory is that the upcoming movie sequel may finally explore Elsa's romantic department as, allegedly, the central theme of "Frozen 2" will be about finding true love. Reportedly, a king will finally melt the heart of the Ice Queen, and Elsa will finally have her own partner.

However, without any official word from Disney, such a plot theory must be taken with a grain of salt as well, just like the rumors claiming that Menzel has been replaced as the voice of Elsa.
