'Frozen 2' news: Why Elsa will not be killed off in the highly anticipated sequel
The highly anticipated sequel to "Frozen" is in the works despite the lack of word from production regarding its development. There are lots of things to look forward to and one of them is Queen Elsa's next move now that she has decided to "Let It Go."
The Kingdom of Arendelle now knows that its queen has superpowers, and based on the end scene of the first film, everyone has accepted her. However, previous rumors suggested that Queen Elsa may be killed off in the sequel for some reason.
While killing the character will probably be a reason for many to watch "Frozen 2," Elsa's death will most likely drive away a number of fans from succeeding installments. The Telegraph notes that it won't be a good idea to kill Elsa for good. This will cost too much for Disney and the giant filmmaker is well aware of this.
Elsa is basically at the center of the "Frozen" franchise. She and Princess Anna play a major role in keeping the franchise afloat. If one of them gets killed off, the reception to succeeding spinoffs or sequels will most likely decline.
The outlet adds that Elsa is expected to have a new dress in the sequel as this will also play a key role in gaining revenue. Elsa's blue and sparkly dress has paved the way for the franchise to sell massive numbers of dolls, dresses and other items inspired by the character's outfit.
The latest bad news is that "Frozen 2" likely won't be in before 2019. According to the same media outlet, Disney already has a lineup of films for 2017 and 2018. Unfortunately, the sequel to "Frozen" is not part of the list and this could mean that the film may not be released until late 2018 or early 2019.
For now, fans can look forward to the upcoming animated TV special that is set for Christmas of this year. The special will star Olaf and is expected to feature the appearances of his friends Elsa, Anna and Kristoff.
