Walt Disney Animation Studios has officially announced "Frozen Fever," regarded by some as Frozen 2, a new animated short film sequel that will bring the entire cast back on the big screen.

"In 'Frozen Fever,' it's Anna's birthday and Elsa and Kristoff are determined to give her the best celebration ever, but Elsa's icy powers may put more than just the party at risk," according to the Disney blog.

Frozen 2 is going to be the first reunion project for the Oscar-winning team of Directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, Producer Peter Del Vecho and music geniuses Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez.

Despite being a mega hit, producers were adamant in saying that there are "no plans" for a feature-length big screen follow-up.

The original Frozen movie was a phenomenon. It hit theaters in November 2013 and instantly gushed to the top of the charts becoming the highest grossing animated film ever with more than $1.2 billion in gross sales.

The number one spot was held by Toy Story 3 for fours years now, with The Lion King and Despicable Me 2 occupying the third and fourth places respectively.

It also now ranks as the fifth highest grossing movie in history.

Frozen became a global sensation where everyone sang and danced to the tune of Idina Menzel's "Let It Go," the official theme song of the film (Demi Lovato's version was the one featured in the official soundtrack).

Frozen was not only a massive box office success, it also conquered the music realm selling more than two million copies and dominating Billboard 200 album chart for 10 straight weeks.

Frozen featured the well-loved characters of Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and snowman himself, Olaf.

Aside from the "Frozen 2" short film, Frozen will also grace the Broadway stage and is entertaining fans through Frozen-themed video games.

ABC also unveiled "The Story of Frozen: Making a Disney Animated Classic," an all-new Disney special that takes viewers behind the scenes and evolution of the epic animated film.

Frozen 2, or more correctly "Frozen Fever," is scheduled to be released during the Spring of 2015.
