Frankie Muniz hints on a possible 'Malcolm in the Middle' reboot

Frankie Muniz caused a major stir when he tweeted his idea about a "Malcolm in the Middle" reboot. Muniz, known for the titular character in the hit series, "Malcolm in the Middle," posted his idea of a reboot, which will feature Malcolm as an adult experiencing a mid-life crisis, on his Twitter account last Monday. And his tweet immediately sent fans, who grew up watching the show, into a frenzy of excitement.
"How fun would Malcolm In The Mid-life Crisis be. I wonder what Malcolm and his family would be up to now!" read his tweet.
"Malcolm in the Middle" began back in the year 2000 and ran for seven seasons on Fox. The story focuses around Malcolm, the middle child, trying to survive his chaotic yet comedic family. During the series' long run, it had thirty-three Emmy award nominations and won seven Emmys, a Grammy and even a Peabody award.
The tweet got people's tongues wagging, further speculating that the update might be an indication of a reboot currently in the works. With the very positive reception the show garnered, it really is not farfetched that interest on a new project based on the original series would be picked up.
Unfortunately, Muniz since clarified that he is not involved in any reboot projects. He explained that his tweet was only meant to gauge "interest" and that there is no reboot planned at the moment. Fans are still hopeful for a modern adaptation, but they are aware that it might be unlikely, especially since Bryan Cranston, the actor who played Malcolm's dad and who recently shot to fame because of his role as Walter White on "Breaking Bad," is currently busy with a trove of new projects.
With the production of "Jurassic World" and "Ghostbusters" reboots, however, a "Malcolm in the Middle" revival is not completely out of the question.
