The second season of The CW's "The Flash" is scheduled to premiere in just a few hours and fans are already dying to see the return of Barry Allen and the rest of the crime-fighting crew. Thankfully for them, as the debut approaches, more and more details about the show's return have surfaced and by all accounts, "The Flash" season 2 is going to be as exciting as the the pilot run.

Last season, the Flash aka Barry Allen, played by "Glee" alum Grant Gustin, accidentally opened a wormhole that makes Central City more vulnerable to a whole new slew of villains. And true enough, according to executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, season 2 will see tougher challenges for one Barry Allen.

During the interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kreisberg explained that with a whole new world opened up, the onslaught of new bad guys will be a game changer for the show.

He said, "It's still the same show. It still has those characters and that camaraderie, but our villains are coming from a brand new place and we're dealing with different concepts, and it's just really exciting."

He further revealed that the Flash will face off with at least four new enemies, one of which could quite possibly be faster than the light-bending hero.

"Reverse Flash felt like a warrior, and what we wanted this time was something more akin to a monster. When you finally see Zoom, he looks like a demon, and it's really scary. It's more horrific," Kreisberg said.

Despite the much anticipated challenges, it seems like season 2 won't all be bad news for the superhero. According to a report by IBTimes, Barry will have a new love interest named Wendy, who is a cop at the Central City Police Station.

The second season premiere of "The Flash" will hit primetime on Oct. 6.
