Fitbit Alta arrives with fashionable looks
With wearables becoming increasingly popular with the fashion conscious, Fitbit decided that it also needed a fitness tracker with good looks. This was one reason why many industry analysts believe the company created the Fitbit Alta.
Commenting on the arrival of the Fitbit Alta, Wired states that with it, the company tries to move away from the perception that it only creates ugly devices which are used by people to improve their health and activity level. It adds that Fitbit started the trend towards more fashionable devices with the Blaze, which comes with interchangeable bands, but the Alta takes it to a whole new level. Importantly, the fitness tracker looks much like a bracelet and in this sense, it is completely different from previous offerings that were created by Fitbit.
Priced at $130, the Fitbit Alta can be accessorized with a variety of bands. The plastic bands for the device come in black, teal, blue, or plum colors and these are priced at $30 each. However, there is also going to be a stainless steel version that is priced at $100 and a gold colored version later in the year. As for leather bands, there are two on offer: one in pink and another in graphite. These are priced at $60 each.
Coming to battery life, the Alta will be able to last for five days with a single charge. However, in spite of its fashionable exterior, this fitness tracker has all the features that people love in Fitbit including sleep tracking and activity tracking. Users will also get helpful reminders to move periodically and they will also be able to get notifications when a paired smartphone receives, calls or text messages. Finally, the Fitbit Alta comes with the popular automatic exercise recognition feature SmartTrack. This particular feature, which is also found on the Blaze, can understand automatically what type of exercise the user is performing without any prompting on the wearable or the paired smartphone.
