'Final Fantasy 7 Remake' rumors: A possible reason for why no official release date is known for the game

(Square Enix)New rumor pointing to a 2017 arrival for the first episode of the 'Final Fantasy 7 Remake'

Earlier this month, a new rumor related to the "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" seemingly gave fans the release date they have long been looking for.

Specifically, it was a report from VG Leaks that suggested that the first episode of the remake is set to come out next year.

A possible 2017 arrival for the first episode of the remake makes sense for a few reasons.

As that report already pointed out, next year will mark the 30th anniversary of the "Final Fantasy" series, so it wouldn't really be that surprising if Square Enix decided to mark the occasion by releasing what is arguably their most eagerly anticipated game.

Furthermore, a 2017 release for the first episode could represent a two-year gap between the official unveiling of the game – that took place during the 2015 Electronic Entertainment Expo – depending on which specific month Square Enix may decide to make it available. That would seem to be enough time to get the first episode ready.

Still, the folks over at Square Enix have opted against announcing any kind of release date for the "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" and there may be a good reason for that.

Fans just need to look back on "Final Fantasy 15's" eventful development cycle to see how announcing release dates way ahead of schedule may not be the best move.

There's already a considerable amount of hype surrounding this game even without a release window attached to it. Announcing that would shift the hype machine into overdrive, and put unnecessary pressure on the developers.

This doesn't mean that Square Enix will or will not release the first episode next year; it's just that they may want to hold off on sharing that exact date until they are absolutely sure that they can deliver the game by then.

More details about the "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" should be made available soon.
