'Final Fantasy 7' remake: No new gameplay released during the GDC 2016

Many fans who hoped to see a new gameplay trailer for the "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" were disappointed because Square Enix did not release anything new during the Game Developers Conference 2016.
"Final Fantasy 7 Remake" was one of the games displayed by Unreal Engine during the conference. However, there was nothing new or any additional preview for the game. Another game that was featured along with it is "Kingdom Hearts 3."
Square Enix' s Yoshinori Kitase had previously revealed that most of 2016 will be used as a preparation for the remake. Furthermore, he also said that the remake will be released in episodes and not as a whole.
He said that the reason for this is that they "have the opportunity to go beyond the story, world and experience of 'Final Fantasy VII' in ways we've always dreamed of - from the depths of Midgar to the skies above the Planet. The multi-part format enables us to expand the original story and turn it into an epic experience for fans and new gamers alike."
In a report in Crossmap, Tetsuya Nomura gave a hint that they will place an open-world map within the game. Furthermore, they added that there will be a lot of mini-games inside the game using the latest technology available. However, they also revealed that they are still in the planning stage what the mini-games will be like.
"Final Fantasy 7 Remake" is also reported to be using fully-voiced characters instead of the usual text conversation used in the original "Final Fantasy 7" game. Nomura, however, said that they haven't decided yet on the voices that will be used for each character.
As for the release of the first installment of the game, there hasn't been an official announcement from Square Enix yet whether they will release it this year or not.
