'Final Fantasy 15' DLC news: 'Episode Gladiolus' plot revealed in new official trailer

(YouTube/FinalFantasyXV)The adventures of Gladiolus will be the focus of the first "Final Fantasy 15" DLC.

The first downloadable content (DLC) episode for "Final Fantasy 15" will center on the battle between Gladio and one of the most notorious villains, based on the official trailer for the upcoming DLC.

Square Enix showed the new trailer for the "Final Fantasy 15: Episode Gladiolus" during the studio's panel discussion at the PAX East 2017 event.

Based on the trailer, the upcoming DLC will feature the adventures of Noctis' trusted companion Gladiolus during his own solo journey. He is seen in an intense combat with Gilgamesh, known as the most inexhaustible villain of the entire "Final Fantasy" video game franchise.

But instead of having multiple arms, which he has showcased in his past appearances in the "Final Fantasy" games, Gilgamesh seems to have only one arm in the upcoming DLC.

Haruyoshi Sawatari, the main producer of the upcoming DLC chapters for "Final Fantasy 15," spoke with GameSpot to provide more information about the next expansion contents of the game.

According to Sawatari, a different kind of Gilgamesh will be introduced in the new DLC. "As you can see in the trailer, Gilgamesh is waiting in these ruins to fight," the DLC producer stated. "You probably have an image of what Gilgamesh looks like, but this is Gilgamesh from the world of FF XV. He's considered the blade master. So that's an original character for Episode Gladio that's not in the main game."

Sawatari also mentioned that the battle system that will be used in the "Final Fantasy 15: Episode Gladiolus" will focus on the offense and defense. "The more he blocks enemy attacks, the higher his attack output actually becomes," he added.

The DLC producer also revealed that they have no plans of coming up with more DLCs aside from the three upcoming episodes, including the other two that will feature Noctis' other companions Ignis and Prompto.

The "Final Fantasy 15: Episode Gladiolus" will be released on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on Tuesday, March 28.
