'Fear The Walking Dead' spoilers: plot set at time of virus outbreak, but will skip origins

Understandably, AMC is capitalizing on its most famous and hit series "The Walking Dead" by ordering a spin-off called "Fear The Walking Dead". Even before the freshman season of the spin-off has been aired, the network has already ordered for the show's second season.
What can "The Walking Dead" fans expect from its companion series? According to Melty, the Los Angeles-based show follows the story of the virus outbreak before the events in the "The Walking Dead". It will depict how families across sunny California react when news of the virus first breaks out and how survivors first respond when walkers start cropping up everywhere.
Executive producer Greg Nicotero spoke to the publication and made it clear that the series won't be a carbon copy of its original show. Moreover, the setting plays a crucial role in the plot and the physical appearance of the walkers will be distinctly different from what viewers have seen in "The Walking Dead". Indeed, the sunny and dry weather of California will alter the walkers' looks.
Writers have used real-life events that have occurred in Los Angeles and intertwined them with the story. Since the show starts in 2012 and will soon catch up with the original series' timeline, it will be interesting to see the beginnings of a post-apocalyptic world. Melty also highlighted that writers have used the infamous bath salts story in which the press had reported users of the drug behaving like cannibals.
MoviePilot reports that some walker fans were hoping "Fear The Walking Dead" would deal with the story of the virus' origin, but it won't. Robert Kirkman, the writer of the original comic series, had earlier commented that he knew the story of the virus' origin, but had never bothered to pen it down.
The cast seems extremely interesting and includes stars like Frank Dillane, Alycia Debnam Carey, Cliff Curtis, Kim Dickens, Ruben Blades, Mercedes Mason and Elizabeth Rodriguez.
"Fear The Walking Dead" premieres this summer.
