For a time, it was unsure whether there would ever be another "Fast and the Furious" movie after the death of Paul Walker. Hollywood is known to give up on projects for very trivial reasons, so the death of a main character ranks high on the list. However, Universal Pictures managed to turn their situation around and has kept the franchise alive, largely due to the massive success of "Furious 7."

Instead of giving up the franchise, the cast, crew and studio have instead decided to dedicate the future installments in honor of the late Paul Walker.

"Paul used to say that 8 was guaranteed and, in some ways, when your brother guarantees something, you sometimes feel like you have to make sure it comes to pass. So if fate has it – fate, F8 – then you'll get it... 'Furious 7 was for Paul; 8 is from Paul," Vin Diesel revealed during the MTV Movie Awards earlier this year.

Rather than give up, "Fast and the Furious," from here on out, will become Paul Walker's legacy.

Family, friends and fans of Paul Walker recently celebrated what would be the late actor's 42th birthday last Sept. 12.

"I don't know anyone that loves the ocean as much as Paul did. It will always reminds me of him. So, on his birthday, that's where I'll be. We will have a small celebration for Paul with close friends and family – nothing big. Paul was a low-key guy," brother, Cody Walker, told PEOPLE.

Dwayne Johnson, Ludacris and Nathalie Emmanuel took to their social media accounts to send Walker a birthday greeting. "Happy birthday brother. Grateful you were born," Dwayne Johnson posted on his Twitter.

Even though "Fast 8" won't be released until 2017, fans are already highly anticipating the movie and any information that would shed light on the upcoming movie. Unfortunately, official details have been scant, with some news relying on mere speculation or rumors. It seems that the hype for "Fast 8" is steadily rising with the passing of each day.

From the details that have been released, it seems certain that "Fast 8" will be relocating to New York. The story will also somehow relate back to Mr. Nobody (Kurt Russell). Aside from the main cast, Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham are also confirmed to return. Fans should stay tuned for more updates regarding "Fast 8."

"Fast 8" will hit theaters on April 14, 2017.
