'Fast and Furious 8' plot, movie news: Angelina Jolie rumored to be in line to play villain
Paul Walker sure left a huge void to fill in the "Fast and Furious" franchise. With the eighth movie in the horizon, how does the franchise intend to fill this void? Why, with no other than an Academy Award-winning actress, if rumors eventually prove true.
In two years from now, fans of the action racing film franchise will have "Fast and Furious 8" to look forward to. With the obvious void left by Walker, some of the stars have been making wish lists on how to make the movie a must-watch for fans. Michelle Rodriguez, who plays the role Letty Ortiz, started the wheels turning by saying she sees the franchise going to the Big Apple.
Another thing that the 37-year-old said which will make "Fast and Furious 8" a hit with fans is an addition of another powerful female character. She has Academy Award-winner and known action heroine, Angelina Jolie, in mind for the role. The rumor had been so strong recently that some have speculated that Jolie is set to play a villain. But no confirmation has been made yet.
Whether or not Jolie joins the Universal Pictures film, fans can surely bet on another female actress joining the eighth film. Ruby Rose of "Orange is the New Black" fame, had been in talks for casting in the eighth movie. The actress-DJ said she auditioned for the seventh installment before landing a role in "OITNB" but unfortunately did not get the role.
Rose's involvement in the film remains in talks and is not yet confirmed. Stay tuned for updates.
Apart from Rodriguez, returning to film number eight are Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Kurt Russell, and Eva Mendes. Russell's Mr. Nobody is set to play a more important role in the upcoming movie. Cody Walker, who filled in for his brother, Paul, to finish the seventh movie, is rumored to be joining the cast as a new, different character.
"Fast and Furious 8" is tentatively pegged for an April 14, 2017 release.
