The latest game in the Far Cry series is "Far Cry Primal" and it was revealed earlier this year when Ubisoft the publisher announced that it would be releasing for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on February 23, 2016. Now the publisher has revealed that the PC version of the game will be arriving a few weeks later on March 1st. However, as industry pundits have previewed the game they have pointed out that it is very similar to previous offering in the series.

It was clear when "Far Cry Primal" was officially unveiled in October of this year that the setting of the first person shooter would change and go further back in time to the Stone Age. However, Gamespot states that the upcoming game does not deviate much from the tried and tested formula that has been featured in the series so far. It also adds that ""Far Cry Primal" is like a new coat of paint thrown over the last offering in the series which is titled "Far Cry 4" and is set in a fictional portion of the Himalayas.

Until now the first person shooter series has relied heavily on guns but with the setting changed to the Stone Age, gamers will have to rely on other weapons to take on hostiles and even dangerous beasts. This was deemed as an attractive feature of "Far Cry Primal" as soon as the game was officially revealed and many thought that it would bring a breath of fresh air in the series.

However, as previews of the game have taken place, several such as ArsTechnica state, that it is just a case of "old" ideas being repackaged. It also adds that Ubisoft will struggle to keep the narrative fresh and centered on action in the Stone Age, and not fall prey to tropes that have been transplanted from earlier games in the series.

One of the positive features that have been noted so far in "Far Cry Primal" is the protagonist Takkar's ability to tame different animals including wolves, bears, owls and saber toothed tigers. However, it appears that he can only tame and use one animal at a time along with an assortment of Stone Age weapons to attack his enemies.
