Things are really moving fast for TNT's "Falling Skies" as it finishes its fifth and final season in a couple of weeks.

While the network is still silent regarding the conclusion of the show, reports have already stated that it is possible that some of the fans' favorite characters might not even make it to the finale.

The official rundown of the upcoming eighth episode, to be aired on Sunday, has already been released.

"Weaver discovers a startling truth about an old friend and sets out to protect the 2nd Mass. Elsewhere, Maggie and Isabella are forced to work together, and Tom leads an attempted escape by the 2nd Mass," reads the synopsis. 

The cast has also shared a couple of spoilers as well. Conner Jessup, who plays Ben Manson on the show, sat down with BuddyTV recently and teased that some of the characters on the show would have a happier conclusion while other characters would not. Jessup was also quick on saying that he was glad with the conclusion that was given to his character.

Jessup also adds: "The thrust of the show has been Tom (Noah Wyle) going from a mild-mannered history professor who always protected the civilians and battled with Weaver over military stuff to almost the reverse, where he becomes colder and harder and more aggressive and Weaver almost becomes gentler and more humanistic."

Executive Producer, Olatunde Osunsanmi, was also interviewed, and has stated that it is difficult to kill off characters as there is a certain trauma that comes with killing them off the show. Osunsanmi, however, admits that it has been quite "tricky" when it came time to tie up loose ends before the finale, since there were a lot of characters to watch out for.

However, the EP has promised a "pretty wild" finale.

The final season of "Falling Skies" airs on Sundays on TNT.
