'Dynasty' reboot news: 'Melrose Place' alum Grant Show lands Blake Carrington role
John Forsythe's iconic character Blake Carrington will now be played by "Melrose Place" veteran Grant Show on The CW's reboot of "Dynasty," reports claim.
Fans of the classic soap opera from the 1980s could remember that Blake is the ruthless, self-made billionaire who owns the Denver-Carrington oil company.
Show is also known for portraying the role of Spence Westmore on Lifetime's serial comedy-drama "Devious Maids," as well as ABC's mystery thriller "The Family."
The "Dynasty" reboot will follow the lives of the wealthiest families in America, the Carringtons and the Colbys, who will continuously try to outwit each other over the control of their riches and their children.
The show will be mainly based on the perspectives of two feuding women, Fallon Carrington (Elizabeth Gillies), Blake's daughter, as well as Cristal (Nathalie Kelley), the Hispanic woman who will find herself marrying into the WASP family and Fallon's soon-to-be stepmother.
The series will be co-written by former "Gossip Girl" creators Stephanie Savage, Josh Schwartz, and Sallie Patrick. According to reports, the reboot will unveil "a corrupt world built on backroom deals, betrayal, and, in some cases, murder."
The original "Dynasty" that was created by Richard and Esther Shapiro first aired on ABC on Jan. 12, 1981 and ran for nine seasons until its series finale on May 11, 1989. It was hailed as the most-loved show in America back in 1985.
Legendary producer Aaron Spelling worked on the show for the duration of its nine seasons, together with the Shapiros and Douglas S. Cramer.
The reboot was first announced in September 2016. The Shapiros will still work behind the new series, together with the writers. Lis Rowinski from Fake Empire will also co-executive produce the show.
The CW has yet to announce the official release date of "Dynasty," but the announcement is expected to be revealed soon.
