'Dragon Quest XI' news: Additional plot and character details emerge courtesy of new magazine scans
The past few days have been huge for those fans excited for "Dragon Quest XI" and there are still more details trickling out about this new role-playing game.
This time around, the new game details come courtesy of the latest issue of the "Weekly Jump" magazine, as some scans of it were shared over on Twitter by "@YonkouProd."
Both Gematsu and Siliconera have provided translations of the details included in the magazine scans.
Starting off with the story details, in the game, players will see the protagonist go through a special ritual together with a friend named Emma.
Apparently, something unusual happens as they both undergo the ritual, and this unknown event will likely be one of the key occurrences inside the game.
There's also something known as The Great Tree of Life inside the game, and the protagonist has a kind of special connection with it, though exactly what this is remains unclear.
Speaking of the protagonist, it should probably come as no surprise that he possesses some exceptional traits that make him stand out inside the world of "Dragon Quest XI."
Aside from that aforementioned ability to connect with The Great Tree of Life in a unique way, the protagonist also possesses an unusual, glowing birthmark.
Also featured in the scans is one of the game's playable characters, the fiercely loyal Camus. Camus' background is not quite as spotless as the one that belongs to the game's protagonist, though players can lean on him quite heavily in battle and he is expected to be a highly competent companion in many ways.
One more thing, the in-game world is apparently named Rotozetasia and players should be able to learn more about what this mysterious and magical world will offer in the near future.
"Dragon Quest XI" is expected to be released for the PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo 3DS in Japan next year. A Nintendo Switch port of the game is also in the works, but it is unclear if that version will also be made available in 2017.
