'Dragon Ball Super' episode 77 spoilers, update: 'Tournament of Power' martial arts battle begins

(Toei Animation)"Dragon Ball Super" will start its "Universal Survival" story arc in February.

Toei Animation has released an extended trailer of episode 77 of its Japanese anime series, "Dragon Ball Super." The episode introduces the series' "Universal Survival" arc.

In the trailer, the martial arts tournament starts and the various characters are seen fighting in head-to-head battles against their enemies. The princely Saiyan is seen transforming as a Super Saiyan to fight a gigantic pink fighter, while Son Goku can be seen battling a gnarly wolf-like opponent.

Goku can also be heard in the trailer saying, "Hey, it's me Goku. Hey Vegeta, let's go to Whis-san for training again. What? You're not going? What's with you, Vegeta? Does it have something to do with Bulma's big belly? I can't wait any longer. I am going to ask Zen-chan to hold the martial arts tournament."

Vegeta is hesitant to join Goku in training because his wife, Bulma, is pregnant and could give birth anytime. The trailer also features several Universe 7 warriors including the Z-Fighters such as Tenshinhan, Master Roshi, Krillin, Android 18 and Chaozu.

The series' episode 77 titled "Let's Do It, Omni-King! The Universe's Greatest Martial Arts Tournament!!" begins with Goku on training and asking Omni-King about updates on his planned mega martial arts competition that pits the best fighters in Universe 7 against each other. In the tournament, the losing fighters see a preview of the destruction of their own universe/community so it is very important for them to win every fight.

"Dragon Ball Super" is a sequel of the Japanese manga series "Dragon Ball" and the television anime series "Dragon Ball Z." The series focuses on the exploits of Goku, who possesses superhuman capabilities, and his friends. In the series, Goku and his friends fight Beerus, The God of Destruction, and other fighters who threaten their peaceful existence.

Catch "Dragon Ball Super" every Sunday at 9 a.m. at Fuji TV, with episode 77 airing on Feb. 5.
