The Future Trunks story arc on "Dragon Ball Super" is everything that fans have been dreaming of and more. Not only is the fan favorite back, but the series now has a formidable villain. An epic showdown between Goku and Black Goku is already in the cards, but is the Earth's hero strong enough to win?

Future Trunk's story arc began in episode 47 of "Dragon Ball Super," with Trunks traveling to the present time to escape Black Goku and ask for help. Since then, the action and plot have been moving at a fast pace, much to the delight of fans.

Episode 48 saw the older Trunks barely escaping Black and arriving in an exhausted state in the present timeline. When he recovered, he saw Goku and immediately started attacking him, thinking that it was the evil version. Episode 49 picked up from Trunks mistake. Fans also learned the truth about what happened to Trunks in the future timeline. Not only did he reveal that Bulma and Mai died, but he also talked about training with Supreme Kai and killing Babidi and Dabura before they could free Majin Boo. The episode ominously ended with Black Goku arriving in the present, while Goku and Future Trunks were sparring.

Episode 50 teases an epic battle between Goku and his evil doppelganger. Titled "Goku vs. Goku Black! The Path to the Sealed Future," the episode will no doubt start where the previous episode ended, with the two Gokus facing off against each other. As expected, present-day Goku becomes excited at the prospect of fighting a strong opponent and immediately challenges Black to a fight. While Black obliges, it appears that he's not taking the fight seriously.

A trailer for the upcoming episode shows Goku powering up and attacking Black, who is able to withstand the attacks despite staying in his base form. Goku wonders how Black could have traveled to their time as the clip shows glimpses of Trunks, Bulma, and a worried-looking Kid Trunks. The trailer ends with Black hitting Goku with an energy blast, sending him flat against the side of the mountain.

Beerus and Whis will apparently also notice that Black is wearing a Time Ring, something that only Kaioshins are allowed to use.

Episode 50 of "Dragon Ball Super" will be aired on Fuji TV on July 3 at 9 a.m.
