'Doctor Who' season 9 news: new synopsis for Episode 2 'The Witch's Familiar' hints at where Doctor is by end of episode 1
The Doctor and his latest companion, Clara Oswald, sure are making a comeback in a few days in what promises to be the most exciting "Doctor Who" season yet. And it does so with a big two-parter episode, the second of which reveals that the Twelfth Doctor will be left all alone with the Daleks.
The synopsis for "A Witch's Familiar," which is the title of the second "Doctor Who" season nine episode, just went online. Those who have not seen "The Magician's Apprentice," which was shown in some select cinemas (along with the season nine prequel, "The Doctor's Meditation"), may find the synopsis a bit "spoiler-ish" as it hints on what happens in episode one.
But for those who have seen episode one or are just plain curious about what to expect in what will surely be an explosive return of the Time Lord, Blogtor Who reports, "Trapped and alone in a terrifying Dalek city, the Doctor is at the heart of an evil Empire; no sonic, no TARDIS, nobody to help. With his greatest temptation before him, can the Doctor resist? And will there be mercy?"
Lots of questions and fans will still have to wait a little more than two weeks to get their answers. "A Witch's Familiar" airs on BBC on Sept. 26.
"The Magician's Apprentice" also promises to be just as intriguing. Den of Geek posted their own spoiler-free review and says that Michelle Gomez's return as Missy is very welcome, making this particular episode toggle between super silly to dead serious. The new "Voldemort nightmare"-material villain will also be something noteworthy in episode one. But what really made the episode really worth watching was the sure-to-be cliff-hanging ending, which as the site noted, people will not see coming.
Watch that and more as "Doctor Who" returns for season nine on BBC this Sept. 19.
